The encyclopedia says a JESTER is supposed to amuse us. It goes on to say JESTERS should provide and provoke laughter. They’re to be laughed at and with. They’re known for their playfulness, amusing remarks, and joke telling.

From their first appearance in medieval times, their job was to entertain and amuse the King, the noblemen, and their families ... especially the children.

WELL, WHY SHOULD IT BE ANY DIFFERENT TODAY?

JESTERS just love to do what they do. If they start to run out of jokes and funny stories, they just reach up and squeeze one of the balls on the ends of the antenna at the top of their head. They’re instantly recharged with fresh, new, ideas. The bulb on the end of their tail, when squeezed (or stepped on) will cause them to go into hysterical laughter. When there’s a JESTER around ... nobody can stay glum and grumpy for long.
